MIKE MASTERSON

I am in the Air Force, serving at Maxwell AFB, in Montgomery, Alabama. This area has become home for me - I was blessed by the love of an Alabama woman - my wife of 23 years, Jane Ellen - 24 years ago (I was getting a divorce from my first marraige and waiting to start my Air Force career at our 10 year reunion), and discovered a part of the country I truly loved, and did not have Kansas winters, when I first visited here. A long, winding tale (aren't they all?) of active duty service in the Air Force took us to New Mexico, South Carolina, Germany, Florida, and back here, all by 1992. I was in the Air Force Reserves from 1992 to 2002, a time when I taught college courses and attained my Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from Auburn University. After 9/11 and a 9 month mobilization as a wartime analyst, I sought and was approved for a return to the 'full-time' active duty list, and also was promoted to LtCol. I have been on active duty in various positions within Air University here at Maxwell since then.

My youngest daughter graduates from high school next May, and I will probably be off to the big sand box for one year very shortly after that. I hope to return to Maxwell in a faculty teaching position until my retirement from the Air Force in 3-4 years. Hopefully I won't be 'elsewhere' for the 40th reunion in 2010. My wife and I are very active in our church, and I am an almost competitive age group sprint triathlete (that is the real short course version of triathlons). I will try and stay in touch much more frequently, it is a comfort to see and hear of my high school colleagues and associates.
